CRANDELL, Richard Wayne, 84, of Malabar, Fla., formerly of Tampa, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006. Richard was the third generation of his family to make a living in the amusement business. Richard was born in Toledo, Ohio, May 19, 1922. He started his career as a clown and slack wire walker, working in his father's circus. During World War II, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard. After being wounded he returned to the amusement business as co-owner with his father of Crandell's Midway Deluxe carnival. Later Richard owned various carnival games including a glass pitch, bingo and ice cream stand. He retired in 1983. Richard was a resident of Tampa for 44 years and recently moved to the city of Malabar, Fla., to be close to his son. Richard was a member of Greater Tampa Showman's Association. He was on the board of directors for 11 years. Richard was very active in the Masonic fraternity. He was a member of Hillsborough Lodge 25 Free & Accepted Masons, worthy patron three times for Tampa Chapter 11 Order of Eastern Star and a dad advisor in Paul Revere Chapter Order of DeMolay. Richard was a member of American Legion Post 111 and a member of the American Legion for 57 years. Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; his son , Thomas (Linda); three grandchildren, Lucinda, Cameron and Michele; and a cousin, Harold Gaertner. Arrangements are by Adams-Jennings Funeral Home, Tampa, (813) 237-3345. Graveside Masonic services will take place at Showman's Rest Cemetery, Tampa.

He is survived by his wife, Elba Garcia of Tampa; three daughters, Iris Cajigas, Tampa, and Lydia Garcia and Linda Garcia, both of Puerto Rico; son, Jose Luis Garcia Jr. of New York; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; five sisters, [Margie McCarthy] of Tampa, Elsie and [Judy Amalfitano], both of Miami, Fla., Ruti of Puerto Rico and Celia of California. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday June 16, 2006, at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday June 16, 2006.
