Charles DeRuiter, 86, Palmetto, died Dec. 9, 2000.

He was born July 22, 1914, in Paterson, N.J. and came to Palmetto 10 years ago from Ruskin. He was a retired miller with Curtis-Wright Industries. He was an Army and National Guard veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Palmetto and New Jersey, and Bradenton Moose Lodge. He was a Protestant.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; four daughters, Gail Lime of Bloomingdale, N.J., Karen Feeri of Wellington, Barbara Batson of Plant City and Annie Schoch of Bradenton; a son, Michael of Waldwick, N.J.; a stepson, Thomas McQuade of Bradenton; two sisters, Hilda DeMarco of Paterson and Margaret Palmer of Muncie, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be later at Ruskin Memorial Park. Palmetto Funeral Home is in charge.
