BEAN, Marcelle Herndon, 86, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully May 17, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Charles F. Bean Jr., and her loyal companion of 15 years, Pat Stalls. A lifelong resident of Tampa, her family came here in the early 1900s from South Georgia. Her father, John Wesley Herndon, and mother, Nancy Jane Herndon, were founding members of Sarah Spencer Memorial Methodist Church on Waters Avenue. Marcelle retired from the Hillsborough County school system after serving as lunchroom manager for both Oak Grove Junior High School and King High School. Her family and her love of dancing were her social life. She enjoyed many years of membership in the Bachelor and Belles Social Club and was a founding member of the Strawberry Singles. She was best known for her fierce love and devotion to her family and is survived by her four children, Charles F. Bean III and his wife, Yvonne, of Tampa, John E. Bean and his wife, Vilma, of Tampa, Daniel C. Bean and his wife, Phyllis, of Lakeland and Joy Bean Crosby and her husband, Gary, of Plant City; 11 grandchildren, Charles "Casey" F. Bean IV, Monte Bean, Jennifer Vinson and her husband, Eric, John E. Bean Jr. and his wife, Rhonda Sue, of Bradenton, Laura Schneider and her husband, Daniel, of Chillicothe, Ohio, Melissa Nasuti of Sanford, Daniel C. Bean Jr. and his wife, Veronica, of Wesley Chapel, Michael Bean and his wife, Heather, of Lakeland, Debra Troast and her husband, Mark, of Sandford, Matthew Crosby and Lucas Crosby of Plant City; and 18 great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Casey Bean IV, Monte Bean, John Bean Jr., Daniel Bean Jr., Michael Bean, Matthew Crosby, Lucas Crosby and Mark Troast. Friends and family will gather in celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. in the Adams & Jennings Chapel on the corner of Nebraska and Sligh avenues. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery . Donations in her memory may be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa, FL 33609. Flowers will also be welcomed.
