CLACK, Evelyn Newbern, 93, passed away Monday, June 7, 2004. She was a long time resident of Polk County, Auburndale, and more recently Brandon. Always an excellent student, valedictorian of 1929 high school class at Dania High School, Dania, Fla. Prior to marriage she was employed by Gulf Fertilizer Company of Tampa. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Auburndale. In earlier years, she was active in the Garden Club and Woman's Club, as well as serving her church. She had many talents, but especially enjoyed watercolor and oil painting. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Clack of Auburndale. She is survived by her son, William A. Clack of Auburndale, Fla.; daughter, Evelyn Harris and husband Michael of Tampa, Fla.; four beloved brothers, Major William A. Newbern, U.S.A. Corps of Engineers Ret. of Ponte Vedra, Fla., Col. Robert G. Newbern, U.S.A.F. Ret. of Lake Worth, Fla., Kenneth C. Newbern of New York, N.Y., Walter R. Newbern of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2004 at the Stowers Brandon Chapel.
