EVANS, Vernon W., Jr., Retired Hillsborough County Senior Circuit Court Judge, 81, died June 4, 2001 following a long illness. Prior to being appointed Circuit Judge in 1973 by Governor Reuben Askew, he had a brilliant career as a trial lawyer and was a partner in the law firm of Shackelford, Farrior, Stallings and Evans. Judge Evans was a native of Saugus, Mass. Following his graduation from the University of New Hampshire, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war, he settled in Florida and graduated from Stetson Law School in 1948. Judge Evans is survived by his wife, Nell S. Evans; his daughter, Nancy Evans Ward of Huntsville, Ala.; his son, Daniel L. Evans of Alpharetta, Ga.; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and one nephew, Robert B. Stewart of Lutz. Private graveside services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Lutz Cemetery .
