BROWN, Charles E., "Chuck",77, of Land O' Lakes, died Saturday, August 9, 2003 in Tampa. He was a longtime Land O' Lakes resident, moving here in the early 1960's from Stedman, N.C. He was a US Army Veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. Brown held the rank of Platoon SGT in the 82nd Air Borne, 504 C Company and supervised the training of machine gun squads and lead them into combat. He remained very active with the DAV and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his step father, Francis "Frankie" La Joie; daughters, Rita Smith (Thomas), Gayle Brown (Jimmy) and Minette Taylor; and sons, Wayne Matthews and Larry Matthews. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Loyless Funeral Home Chapel, 5310 Land O' Lakes Blvd., Land O' Lakes. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the Loyless Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lutz Cemetery . Memorial Donations may be made to D.A.V. Chapter 120, P.O. Box 706, Land O' Lakes.
