AARON, William "Bill" Carl, 58, died at home surrounded by his family on March 10, 2002 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Laurens, S.C. and graduated from the University of South Carolina where he earned a BA in Electrical Engineering in 1966. He enjoyed a successful career at Tampa Electric Co.; retiring in 1999 after 32 years of service. During his career he held memberships in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Florida Engineering Society, National Management Association and Sertoma International. He was a member of Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church. Bill loved life and his family and friends. He will be remembered for his indomitable spirit and his extraordinary courage. He was a kind and giving man who was an inspiration to all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patsy; daughters, Jenny and Cindy; step-sister, Jane Jowers and husband Charlie; nephew, Dennis Jowers and his wife Judy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Betty Nager; nieces and nephew, Stephanie, Kimmie and Brian Nager; aunt, Rose Harris and cousins, Amanda Harris, Philip Harris and wife Hallie Sue and their daughter, Lee of Laurens, S.C., Tim Harris of Longbeach, Calif.; Jim Nelson and wife Jane and their daughters Leslie and Wendy of Texas; and Rick Nelson and wife Rachel and their sons Kyle and David of Laurens, S.C.. The family would like to thank all who were involved in Bill's care at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, especially Dr. Wm. Dinwoodie, his Nurse Ann Marie, Dr. Timothy Yeatman, Dr. Lari Robinson, Dr. Julio PowSang, Dr. Rafael Miguel, his Nurse Audrey and the Nurses on 4 North and South. Please join his family for a celebration of his life at his home on Saturday, March 16, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. A private interment at Lake Carroll Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory can be made to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer and Research Institute, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
