BRUNHILD, Gordon, professor emeritus, 77, of Riverview, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at his home. Dr. Brunhild was a resident of Tampa for many years coming from his native, Chicago, Ill. In 1960, he was part of the original faculty at the University of South Florida, where he was a professor of economics and finance for 35 years. He was president of Brunhild Properties, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, a member of Egypt Temple Shrine-Cracker Jack Division and a member of Congregation Schaarai Zedek since 1960. He was among the founders and a board member for Hillel at USF. Gordon was philanthropic and often used his resources to help others, especially to resettle families from oppressed countries. Survivors include his wife, Sunnie; the mother of his children, Golda Brunhild Wilen; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Wendy Brunhild, Steve and Debbie Brunhild, and Robbie and Karen Brunhild; daughter and son-in-law, Vikki, who serves as cantor of Congregation Beth Am, and Bruce Silverman; grandchildren, Rachel, Ilyssa, Liat, Avi, Claire, Taylor and Shelly; great-granddaughter, Ashley; and stepdaughters, Michelle Bostick and Amy Franklin. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Congregation Beth Am, 2030 W. Fletcher Ave., Tampa. Rabbi Richard Birnholz, Rabbi Brian Zimmerman and Rabbi Frank Sundheim will officiate. Interment will follow at Gan Shalom Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Department of Oncology, LifePath Hospice or Hillel at USF.
