HUNTER, Doyle Robert, 78, of Lithia, passed away August 12, 2005, surrounded by his family. His was a long, courageous fight against Parkinson's disease, of which he never complained. He was a descendant of a pioneer family that homesteaded land in Lithia-Pinecrest, and spent his life in the area. During World War II, he served in the Paratroops and in the Occupation of Japan. He retired from Westinghouse Electric, Nuclear Division, in Tampa. Prior to becoming disabled, he enjoyed working in his orange grove and taking trips with his family. Mr. Hunter was a charter member of Central Baptist Church in Lithia. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Bryan Hunter and wife, Jane, of Lithia, and Tim Hunter and wife, Barbara, of Riverview; one daughter, Lori Solano of Lithia; one brother, J.W. Hunter of Lithia; three sisters, Verna Sapp of Gainesville, Dorothy Pelham of Auburndale and Theda Watson of Auburndale; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at Central Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Central Baptist Cemetery . The family will receive friends for visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
