HARRELSON, Benton "Lamar," 70, of Thonotosassa, is resting and home with our Lord, having passed away May 27, 2005, at University Community Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Julius M. Harrelson; mother, Ruby Lee Smith; and stepfather, Roy Smith. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bettie; daughter, Kathryn L. Crawford of Thonotosassa; son, Charles L. Thurman, and wife, Carolyn, of Thonotosassa; brother, Francis M. Harrelson of Davenport; four grandchildren, Sarah E. Crawford, Benton A. Crawford, Jennifer Eisenberg and husband, Joe, and Charles L. Thurman Jr.; and three great-grandchildren. Lamar was born in Dade City, was a veteran of the Florida National Guard 1953-1958, served in the U.S. Coast Guard 1955-1960, was a retired senior dispatcher for the City of Tampa fire department and a retired fire fighter of Hillsborough County. He was a graduate of Hillsborough High School class of 1954 and a member of the Firefighter Local 754. He loved the outdoors, gardening and fishing and will forever be a fisherman. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at East Thonotosassa Baptist Church, with interment following in Antioch Cemetery . The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
